Change log
- The site is now called CalcTortoise. The address calctortoise.com has been chosen but the site is not published there yet.
- New pages: Editorial policy and How we use AI. Every calculator now ends with a “Sources and method” block with the date its rules and rates were last verified.
- Every result now has a short note that it is an illustration, not investment, tax or legal advice. Return rates in investment calculators are labelled “assumed, not predicted”.
- Each calculator now shows a worked example and a default result in the page itself, with the formula below the tool.
- The small savings rates page has a download of the rates as a CSV file.
- Country pages are now linked to each other for search engines (India, Hindi, US and global), and the global pages only suggest a country version; nobody is moved automatically.
- India: new Household Budget. Tell us your take-home pay, city type, rent or EMI and family size and see how much is left each month, or start from the numbers in your Expense Tracker statements. Change any line, try a cut, and see a chart. Your numbers stay on your device.
- India: new Expense Tracker. Add your PhonePe statement (CSV or PDF) or an SBI statement and see where the money went, month by month, with repeat payments found for you. Credit card spending is kept apart. Your file is read on your own phone or computer and is never uploaded.
- India: six step-by-step guides — buying a home, an EMI that feels too heavy, income tax this year, starting a SIP, whether your money will last after you retire, and needing money fast. Enter your numbers once and they flow through several calculators in order.
- A “What moves the result most” panel under the result on 16 calculators, and “Share as image” to send a picture of your result on WhatsApp.
- India: new Home Loan Eligibility (FOIR, RBI loan-to-value limits, stamp duty), Rent vs Buy, No-Cost EMI, Gratuity (Code on Social Security, 2020), In-Hand Salary, GST (rates from 22 September 2025), Loan Rate Change, FIRE, XIRR and Emergency Fund calculators.
- US: new Federal Income Tax 2026 (IRS Rev. Proc. 2025-32 and the new tips, overtime and senior deductions), Paycheck, 401(k), Roth vs. Traditional, Refinance, 15 vs. 30-Year Mortgage, RMD, Social Security claiming age, 529, Auto Loan (with the car loan interest deduction), Lease vs. Buy, Home Affordability, Rent vs. Buy, Debt Payoff, FIRE, XIRR and Emergency Fund calculators.
- Global: new Home Affordability, Rent vs Buy, Debt Payoff, Remortgage, Car Loan, FIRE, XIRR and Emergency Fund calculators, plus compound interest and inflation.
- Loan calculators can now work out the interest rate, loan amount or tenure from the payment you know.
- Pin any result and change the inputs to compare two plans side by side.
- New reference pages: 2026 US tax numbers, a money calendar with calendar downloads for India and the US, and a glossary for every version.
- Added the Flat vs Reducing Rate Calculator: the real yearly rate behind a “flat” loan offer, the extra interest it costs, and a flat offer compared with a bank’s reducing-rate offer.

- Added a Rates and limits page: small savings rates, tax slabs and key limits with their sources.

- Added the EPF Calculator under the Employees' Provident Funds Scheme, 2026 and Employees' Pension Scheme, 2026: the ₹25,000 wage ceiling from 17 September 2026, the 50% wages rule, VPF, interest at 8.25% and the EPS pension.

- Added the NPS Calculator: corpus, lump sum and annuity under the PFRDA exit rules as amended in December 2025 (up to 80% lump sum for non-government subscribers), the tax on a lump sum above 60%, the pension and the tax saved each year.
